Mike Bowman

My hometown is a small place in West Sussex called Pulborough. Famous for being on one of the best driving roads in the country, the A283. The nearby A272 is where all the road racers go!!
Hobbies and interests include;
Owning a couple of nice cars. At present a accurate replica of an Aston Martin DBR1 and an Aston Martin DB7 Vantage Volante. The former is a long held ambition realised after 25 years and the latter a first step over a decade ago to own an Aston. Both in Aston racing green (the original colour not the current Aston F1 version!).
I have always loved cars in general following an early initiation in the back of a Vintage Bentley (1928 4.5 litre) which was owned by a friend of my Father. Watching Motorsport from an early age also kindled the interest. My Dad worked for Unipart and we often got tickets to see all sorts of racing as kids.
When I could drive I passed both bike and car tests but couldn’t afford to run a car. So bikes for a decade followed, satisfying the adrenaline urge.
Later in life I was able to afford nicer cars and started to occasionally take them on track days. The Jonathan Palmer corporate driving days at Bedford were a must go invitation. Nothing from work ever got in the way of those.
Indoor karting was a sporadic fun night out and I often did well enough to realise I MIGHT be ok around a track.
Fast forward to 2023.
Westbourne Motorsport offered a car to use and I am racing, realising a very long held childhood dream.
After four test days and the test I am actually racing.
I am competing in Britcar and Track Attack events. And this is my first year racing ………ever.
So far Britcar at a wet Silverstone Grand Prix circuit was a baptism of fire in my first two races. But Track Attack has seen kinder weather and better results. Four races since then and all podiums but not yet the top step.
Other hobbies include walking (to slow me down) and DIY. I do like to build things – this year a house extension, greenhouse and patio. The former with professional help.
I do some Business Management Consulting on a part time basis and this year has seen me on a PlayStation Simulator trying to learn UK circuits for many hours.
