Joining the Ginetta class as invitation entries for our final round are Michael Knibbs and Aidan Hills in a G55.
Michael Knibbs has raced Mk1 & Mk3 Mazda MX5s since 2019. He’s been a front runner in the Mazdas with race wins and a top 3 in the championship in 2022. He wanted a fresh challenge and purchased a Ginetta G55 in 2023. Of our championship he says “Britcar looks very professional and competitive. I think it will suit us for a good introduction into GT Racing”.
Meanwhile, Aidan Hills has been racing for 20 years through karting, Rallycross and circuit racing. He has won 3 Mazda Championships in the last 3 seasons and previously raced in the Ginetta GT5 championship. He says “I’ve been working with Michael and coaching him since 2020, so we’ve built up a good relationship over those years, very grateful for him to let me share his Ginetta and looking forward to a new challenge of endurance racing”.
The team, Hills Motorsport, is run by Aidan and his son Daren. They work closely with Dave & Carole at DLRD, who will be helping out with the new Britcar venture. The team started in 2019 with just a couple of drivers and they now run around 15 Mazda MX5s. They have won 4 MX5 Championships in the last 3 seasons. They have also previously run Ginetta GT5’s and have been looking after Michael’s Ginetta G55 for around 2 years.
We welcome the pair to the grid of our into-the-night race on Saturday 8th November at Brands Hatch.
