In a frenetic final few minutes of the short 10-minute qualifying session, Sam Smith in the V8-powered GT class Project 29:7 Ginetta GTP8 claimed a vigorously disputed pole position, ahead of youngster Sam Howarth, who jumped into the top five group late in the session in the Flat Six Motorsport Porsche 991.2. Simon Clark was another late-comer to the top end of the timesheet, grabbing third in the FormEvo McLaren 570s, usurping previous provisonal pole sitters RIchard Avery and Mark Cunningham, despite both making last-lap pushes in their Porsches.
